New Delhi, Aug 05: The startling revelation about synthetic milk by `Inside Story` programme of Zee News is showing widespread impact throughout the nation. While, Congress members raised the issue in Rajya Sabha, several consumers all over the country refused to consume milk till its purity was established.

Congress member Suresh Pachauri, taking a serious note of the issue, said that the matter should be taken up for discussion and call attention motion should be passed on the issue and Health Minister should make clarification on the same. Concurring with his views, Chairman of Rajya Sabha Bhairon Singh Shekhawat said that the matter was indeed serious.
Delhi Health Minister A K Walia has already ordered examination of Mother Dairy milk after he watched the episode on Zee News last night.
Meanwhile, people from different parts of the country kept calling and mailing at Zee News congratulating the team for its commendable effort in exposing the concocted spurious milk. Also, the viewers said emphatically that the guilty should be punished strictly and such malpractices checked. Small children in households refused to drink milk after watching the episode.
‘The Inside Story’ programme of Zee News uncovered how the milk pouch arriving at your doorstep may in fact be liquid urea. The import of the story is this: Rather than feeding your child with what has so far been believed to be a substitute to a wholesome meal, you may actually be poisoning him slowly.

The team witnessed how local milk vendors in Uttar Pradesh mix Reetha with refined oils like Chambal, Helicopter and Dhara and then add it to another mixture of water, sugar, salt and urea. The purity standards of each ingredient is measured to perfection.
Not just Reetha, ‘The Inside Story’ team also uncovers other novel methods to cheat the dairies. Synthetic milk is made of Sunsilk shampoo or adulterated with caustic soda, starch or paper pulp. To make it frothy, the suppliers even add detergents like Ezee!!
This cheap liquid is being made in various cities of UP like Ghaziabad, Mussoorie, Pilakhuwa, Hapur, Hafizpur, Simbholi, Garh and Muradnagar. Synthetic milk in other places like Delhi, Haryana and Karnataka is also manufactured following similar practices.
