Bangalore, Aug 17: BJP has not proposed for advancing or postponing the Lok Sabha elections but was preparing for the polls well in advance, party president M Venkaiah Naidu said today.
"As on today, there is no proposal before the government or the party on advancing or postponing Lok Sabha elections," he told reporters here when asked whether BJP favoured early Lok Sabha elections.
However, Naidu said that BJP was preparing for elections well in advance. "We are preparing mission-2004. Lok Sabha elections next year. We are gearing up the party machinery".
He said what Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani and himself talked about was on synchronising the polls which did not mean advancing of elections.
"There is no question of forcing our views on other political parties. We will have synchronised polls only if there is consensus. There is no question of taking any unilateral decision on elections".
He said that the mass contact programme "gaon gaon chalo, ghar ghar chalo", which he launched here, is aimed at studying the mind and mood of the people. "We want to reach voters once in this year itself".
Naidu said that the NDA government's achievements would be informed to the people at the grass-root levels and the feedback then conveyed to the government.
