Srinagar, July 16: A three-member delegation of Hurriyat Conference would visit Delhi shortly to hold talks with Kashmir Committee led by former Union minister Ram Jethmalani and to reopen the amalgam's bureau in the Union capital, the conglomerate sources said today.
The issue of holding another round of talks with Kashmir Committee was discussed threadbare at today's executive meeting and a decision to this effect would be taken in the next meeting, the sources said.
They said at present the delegation consists of chairman Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari and his two predecessors Abdul Gani Bhat and Mirwaiz Umer Farooq but could be expanded in the next meeting to accommodate some members from the general council. The 25-party conglomerate would also make efforts to reopen its bureau in Delhi during the delegation's visit to the Union capital, the sources said.
The Delhi office of the Hurriyat was closed earlier this year following arrest of two Hurriyat activists for allegedly receiving money from Pakistan high commission to fund militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. The sources said the delegation would also lobby for permission from the Centre to participate in the Kashmir Conference to be held in Washington on July 24.
At present, passports of most of the Hurriyat leaders have been suspended. Bureau Report
