Kozhikode, July 05: With the BJP and Sangh Parivar forces firm on their demand for a CBI probe into the Marad violence that claimed nine lives, Kerala cabinet sub-committee is scheduled to hold another all-party meeting here today to arrive at a `consensus` on going ahead with rehabilitation in the beach area.
Kozhikode, July 05: With the BJP and Sangh Parivar forces firm on their demand for a CBI probe into the Marad violence that claimed nine lives, Kerala cabinet sub-committee is scheduled to hold another all-party meeting here today to arrive at a "consensus" on going ahead with rehabilitation in
the beach area.
"It seems unlikely that the BJP, VHP and RSS will take part in the meet as they are adamant on a CBI inquiry. However, the sub-committee will try to arrive at a consensus among the participants to resume the process of rehabilitation," District Collector, T O Sooraj, told newspersons here.
"The sub-committee members and the chief minister have spoken to BJP, RSS and VHP leaders to convince them to join in the talks as the issue primarily needed a political solution," he said, adding that it was unfortunate that they were in no mood to come to the negotiating table, pending a CBI probe into the incident.
Asked if today's meeting would be able to take any major decision in the absence of BJP and Sangh forces, Sooraj said that the sub-committee, headed by state PWD minister, Dr M K Muneer with two other ministers, m V Raghavan and P Sankaran as members, would continue to make efforts to initiate steps to restore peace in the affected area. "The sub-committee has kept its doors open for them to participate in the meeting," he said.

"It will be certainly difficult to arrive at an amicable solution until the BJP and its allies make up their mind to come for negotiations," he added.
