Hyderabad, Nov 24: Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) today decided to issue a show-cause notice to former Ranji cricketer Vanka Pratap for his allegations about the corruption at high places during selection process.
"HCA emergency executive meeting has decided to issue a show cause notice on Vanka Pratap to give an explanation within three days on the charges he made against selectors,"
HCA president M Ranga Reddy told reporters after the meeting here today.
"The cricketer (Pratap) should explain as to what exactly he means by the allegations levelled on HCA and the matter (reply) would be referred to disciplinary committee for further action." Pratap had earlier alleged that a mediator approached him with a proposal for a berth in India `A' team "at a price" but he had turned down the offer.
Alleging that corruption was common in HCA, he refused to spell out the names but only said, "everyone knows about him. These things (corruption) are common here."
When asked if any action was being contemplated against
Kanwaljit Singh, Reddy replied in the negative. "He made no
allegations against any one and doesn't warrant any action,"
Reddy said.
HCA secretary Shivlal Yadav, who is accompanying Indian team on its tour to Australia as the team manager, however, was not present at the meeting.
