Manchester, June 16: England defeated Scotland 1-0 here on Saturday to set up a final-day clash against India in the women's four nations field hockey event. Forward Jo Ellis' 13th-minute goal broke the deadlock and was enough to take England through to Sunday's final, where they will face India who beat Ireland 1-0.

Ellis was delighted to have scored her first international goal in a match which will help coach Tricia Heberle decide on a squad for the Commonwealth Games in July.
"It was hard work because we didn't play particularly well," Ellis said after only her fourth appearance for England.

However, Heberle was not pleased with her side's performance, and warned that they will have to improve in time for the Commonwealth Games, which start here on July 26.
"I can endure these type of performances at this stage of preparation but we cannot afford to play like that in the Commonwealth Games," she said. Bureau Report
