Jalandhar, Mar 10: Air India (AI) has decided to operate direct flights between Amritsar and Delhi from March 28. These flights would leave every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, an airline spokesman said here today.

They will connect the Air India flight from Delhi to various destinations including New York, London, Europe, Canada, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Shanghai.

Passengers from Punjab would now save time and money for going to Delhi as they would complete immigration and other formalities at Amritsar itself. Incoming passengers from the above destinations can land at Amritsar as most of the flights arrive at Delhi around midnight and can connect the flight from Delhi to Amritsar.

In addition, it will enable passengers to travel Amritsar-Delhi and Amritsar-Delhi-Mumbai on discounted night fare.
