Bombay High Court’s verdict in the 2002 hit-and-run case


The Bombay High Court acquitted Salman Khan of all charges in the 2002-hit-and-run case. The Bombay HC gave its verdict stating that the investigation in the case was highly deplorable and hence the actor cannot be convicted on the basis of doubt.


On September 28, 2002, the actor's car had rammed into a shop in suburban Bandra. In the mishap, one person was killed and four others injured.


The actor had approached the Bombay High Court after a sessions court DW Deshpande held him guilty of the tragic death of one of the victims in the case on May 6 this year. The court had sentenced Salman to five years in jail. In addition to his 5 years sentencing, the Bollywood actor was also slapped with 2 months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500 for driving without licence.


But Bombay High Court’s verdict came as a relief not just to the actor and his family, but millions of his fans across the world.
