Kathmandu, June 10: As part of their agitation demanding restoration of democracy in the country, activists of five major political parties in Nepal today completely halted collection of tax and revenues in most parts of the kingdom, including the capital. The cadres of the parties staged demonstration before tax offices at Lazimpat and Babarmahal and land revenue offices at Kalanki, Dillibazar and Chabahil in Kathmandu during office hours.

Though these offices were guarded by security personnel to stop the agitators, the collection of tax and land revenue was totally stopped, Nepali Congress Kathmandu district president T R Dangol, who is coordinating the joint agitation in the capital, claimed.

Similarly, in the major cities outside the Kathmandu valley, the party workers staged sit-in programme in front of the land revenue and tax offices and stopped collection of any tax.
