Dhaka, Oct 04: Bangladesh is seriously considering to secure open access to the vast markets in India and the united states with a view to promoting its exports. At a seminar organised by Centre for policy dialogue and economic reporters here, the participants, who included eminent politicians, businessmen and trade experts, underscored the need for a strategy that would focus more on market access for the country's export on bilateral basis while continuing negotiations under WTO multilateral framework.
The participants said that Dhaka should take up vigorous trade talks with India for signing a Free Trade Agreement that would benefit the country.
Similar negotiation should be opened with the USA, they said, pointing to the need for strong lobbying in this regard.
They also said that Bangladesh should have a clear strategy for the upcoming WTO meeting to be held in Geneva in December. Bureau Report
