Srinagar, Oct 09: The newly launched Jammu and Kashmir National Democratic Front today called for an immediate ceasefire in the state and starting of a dialogue process between India and Pakistan for a speedy resolution of the Kashmir issue.
"Ceasefire in Jammu and Kashmir is the first step towards resolution of Kashmir issue. Humanity is being brutally massacred in this conflict. This conflict has claimed scores of lives, be it the militants or the security forces," former member of Parliament and the chairman of NDF Abdul Rashi said today.
India and Pakistan, he said, should start a dialogue process in right earnest to resolve the half-a-century old dispute.
On the progress made in the dialogue process so far, Kabuli reaffirmed his belief in Vajpayee and said, "I believe that Vajpayee is one person who can take a bold stand to resolve the conflict."
But he alleged, "BJP is sacrificing the dialogue process for gains in the forthcoming elections in the country. The party should rise above petty gains and put an end to the miseries of the people of Jammu and Kashmir."
He said through NDF he would strive to create a pressure group to persuade India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir issue.
Kabuli also lashed out at the coalition government in the state for making tall promises and not delivering on them.
