New Delhi, Apr 24: Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy has filed an application in the Supreme Court supporting a petition seeking transfer of the trial of cases of alleged disproportionate assets against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa outside the state. Swamy stated that a "grave situation" had arisen by the manner in which prosecution had been conducted in the case leading to apprehension that purity of the administration of justice could not be ensured unless the trial of the cases were transferred to another state. Alternatively, he suggested that the prosecution of the case could be entrusted to "some impartial agency" and it should not vest with the state government which was headed by Jayalalithaa. Swamy stated that the investigations into the case against Jayalalithaa was started only after he had submitted a memorandum to then the Governor of the state requesting him to accord sanction for her prosecution.
