Alapuzha, Aug 11: B K Nair, veteran trade union leader and former Lok Sabha member, died in a private hospital in Kochi today, family sources here said. Nair, 86, was keeping indifferent health for some time. He is survived by a son and four daughters. The funeral will take place here tomorrow.

Nair was elected to the Lok Sabha on congress ticket from Mavelikkara in 1977 and from Kollam in 1980. He had served as state president of Intuc for several years. A pioneer in organizing plantation workers, Nair was member of Indian delegations to several international labour conferences. Bureau Report
