Gangtok, June 27: Congress whip in Lok Sabha K Asungba Sangtam has welcomed the move of withdrawing an arrest warrant against NSCN (I-M) leaders for enabling them to come to India for peace talks. "If you initiate a peace process, you must create an atmosphere where dialogues can be held. A person cannot land in the country if there is an arrest warrant against him," Sangtam, an MP from Nagaland, told reporters here yesterday.
A Nagaland government spokesman had recently announced the state's move to withdraw the arrest warrants against NSCN (I-M) Chairman Isak Chishi Swu and his general secretary Thuingaleng Muivah to visit India to hold further rounds of peace talks.
"It is a welcome step. Now they (the NSCN leaders) can come here in free mind to hold peace talks", Sangtam said. Bureau Report
