Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf reiterated his call for US led military operations in Afghanistan to be short and targeted following talks on Thursday with Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. His comments came amid rising concern among Muslim countries over civilian casualties as a result of the bombing of Taliban ruled Afghanistan.
“We strongly believe that the campaign in Afghanistan should be short and targeted and must avoid the loss of civilian lives,” he told a joint press conference after the meeting with Sezer.
The Pentagon earlier on Thursday admitted dropping deadly cluster bombs close to a civilian village near the western Afghan city of Herat, an accident the United Nations said killed nine people. Bureau Report
