New Delhi, Oct 14: BJP today sought to adopt a soft approach towards VHP's October 17 programme in Ayodhya and follow the line taken by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee towards the saffron outfit.
"Whatever the Prime Minister has said on the VHP programme, the party is in agreement with him and we are sure that it will pass off peacefully," party spokesman Prakash Javadekar told reporters here.
Vajpayee had expressed faith in the outfit's claims that it would be peaceful.
"VHP is saying that they will do everything in a peaceful manner. Us par vishwas kiya jana chahiye (we should have faith in what they say)," Vajpayee told reporters here on his return from eight day trip to Indonesia and Thailand.
Declining to be drawn into any discussion on the issue, Javadekar said, "the Centre would take the appropriate steps and so far it has not taken any decision regarding stopping trains from passing through Ayodhya”.
On remarks by VHP leader Praveen Togadia about Bjp, he said, "we don't want to enter into any argument with VHP."
