Yevgeny Kafelnikov reached his sixth semi-final in seven tournaments on Friday when he out-classed Czech Jiri Novak 6-3 6-3 to reach the last four of the Paris Masters Series. The fourth-seeded Russian, the highest-ranked player left in the draw, needed just 70 minutes to dismiss Novak, who had beaten Roger Federer and Julien Boutter in the previous rounds.
It will be Kafelnikov's fourth semi-final in the Parisian indoor tournament and he now looks the favourite to win the title after coming very close in 1996, when he lost in the final to Thomas Enqvist. Bureau Report
