Raipur, June 05: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and his son Amit today refuted charges of their involvement in the killing of NCP leader Ram Avtar Jaggi and said the culprits will not be spared. "It is totally baseless and very low level politics to involve me or my family members in the killing", Jogi said on phone from Bilaspur.

He said a special investigating team has been constituted by the state police and "the accused will be arrested very soon and not be spared at any cost".

Condemning the killing of Jaggi, the chief minister said there was no place for violence in a democracy and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.

Jaggi, treasurer of NCP's state unit, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen last night near the Mohdapara police station in the city.

Opposition NCP party leaders, led by its state unit chief V C Shukla, today met the Governor Lt Gen Krishna Mohan Seth and alleged that Jogi and his son were behind the killing, they demanded a CBI inquiry into the case.

Jogi said on principle he is not opposed to a CBI inquiry into the killing but as police was investigating the matter, there was no need for the CBI probe.

Meanwhile, Amit Jogi said he had nothing to do with local politics as he was a student.

"Without any evidence, one should not make allegations about my involvement in the killing", he added.
