Houston, Nov 14: Argentine Guillermo Coria swept past Spain's Carlos Moya 6-2 6-3 at the ATP Masters Cup to stay on course for a semifinal berth at the year-end 3.65 million dollars event.
Coria, who lost to Germany's Rainer Schuettler in his opening round robin match, needed 92 minutes to dispose of the seventh-ranked Spaniard and even his record at 1-1 to leave him tied with world number one Andy Roddick for second in the red group standings.
Coria will next face Roddick, who earlier yesterday fell 4-6 7-6 7-6 to Schuettler, in a match that will decide the semifinal placings.
Schuettler is the surprise leader in the group with a perfect 2-0 record while Moya, a finalist at the 1998 year-end event, has lost both his matches and cannot advance.
