Sant Kabir Nagar (UP), Feb 16: Defending invocation of Pota against jailed independent legislator Raja Bhaiya and his father Udai Pratap Singh, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today said they had become a symbol of terror in Pratapgarh. The Election Commission had to countermand the assembly polls in Kunda during the last assembly elections because of the terror tactics of Raja Bhaiya, she told a BSP rally here.
The chief minister said action had been taken against the legislator during the regimes of Congress and also Kalyan Singh.
Even Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was opposing use of Pota on Raja Bhaiya, had taken action against him during his regime, she claimed.
Admitting that there were ideological differences between BJP and BSP, Mayawati said she went in for the coalition only to avoid another election.
She claimed that the law and order situation in the state had improved during her regime.
