free distribution of school bags by the Chhattisgarh
government in violation of model code of conduct, the State
Election Commission today said they have asked it to clarify
as to how many bags have been distributed and till what date.
"When the Commission has banned distribution of bags
from October 13, how it is being transported even five days
after that", the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K K
Chakravorty has asked the State Tribal Department, a day
after BJP urged the EC to take action against Chief Minister Ajit Jogi.
The Tribal Department is the nodal agency to distribute 25 lakh school bags with Chief Minister Ajit Jogi's image on them and both BJP and NCP protested over the matter.
But a truck accident yesterday revealed that the distribution was still on and a BJP delegation brought to the CEO's notice.
Taking into consideration the various reports, the commission has asked the tribal department to clarify whether transportation of bags were still on despite ban on its distribution, election office sources told reporters here today.
