Mumbai, Nov 30: A special court has asked Mumbai Police to show the material it had against Iqbal Kaskar, brother of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and accused in a case of alleged land-grabbing even as he sought time until December 02 to argue his plea for bail. Police opposed Iqbal's plea for liberty saying there was material to establish his links with Dawood's crime syndicate.
Iqbal has been booked under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act along with his associates, Abdul Rehman Abdul Gafoor Shaikh and Abdul Sattar Haji Jiva Radhanpur.
Special Public Prosecutor Rohini Salian opposed his bail saying 11 witnesses had testified against him and seven others had given a statement saying they were threatened by Dawood and his brother Iqbal.
This is for the first time Iqbal has sought bail from the special court since his arrest under MCOCA on March 19.
Iqbal's lawyer Sham Keswani pleaded that the police had not made out any case against his client and urged for his bail on the ground that MCOCA was not applicable to him. He sought time until December 02 to submit further arguments.
Iqbal was arrested under MCOCA after he was deported from Dubai. He is facing the charges of channelising funds of the underworld into the real estate in Mumbai.
