Jaipur, July 26: Rajasthan BJP unit today temporarily
suspended the "Parivartan Yatra" following a clash between
their workers and Congressmen leaving several injured in
Jhalawar district.
The clash occurred when some Congress workers started
waving black flags to the yatra while it was passing through
Bhawani Mandi town yesterday, a BJP spokesman said today.
State BJP Chief Vasundhara Raje had postponed her
scheduled programme to reach Chomahal from Bhawani Mandi in
view of the charged atmosphere and accused the district
administration as well as police of conniving with the
Congressmen, he said.
Meanwhile a complete bandh is being observed on a call by
local units of the BJP in Bhawani Mandi and Jhalawar towns in
protest against yesterday's incident.
All markets and commercial establishments are closed in both the towns, police said, adding the bandh is peaceful and there has been no report of any untoward incident.
It was third incident of Congressmen trying to disturb the yatra after similar happenings in Jhalarapatan and Jhalawar during the tenth leg of yatra in Haroti region, he said.
However, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Chief Girija Vyas in a statement charged that desperate BJP workers were inciting trouble by trying to attack Congressmen and Congress offices.
Bureau Report.
