New York, Nov 25: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's "political fixers" offered former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto a deal to ensure that her party does not support the candidates of Islamic religious alliance for the office of Prime Minister, media reports said today. Bhutto, now living in self-exile following her conviction on charges of corruption, was prepared to cast aside her pro-western views and instruct her Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to back Maulana Fazlur Rehman, the prime ministerial candidate of Islamic religious party alliance Muttahida Majlis e-Amal (MMA), American news magazine "Time" said in a report.
Musharraf moved fast. First, his aides released Bhutto's husband Asif Ali Zardari from his jail hospital and allowed him to visit his dying mother in Karachi.

At one stage, the magazine said, Musharraf's "political fixers" tried to win her over by an offer to drop corruption charges against her and her husband.
Under the deal, Zardari would be freed and sent into exile while Bhutto would be allowed back in Pakistan after two years to resume politics, the magazine quoted insiders as saying. Bureau Report
