New Delhi, Oct 29: Armenian President Robert Kocharian arrived on a four-day visit to India during which the two sides would sign three agreements, including one on avoidance of double taxation. He would also hold wide-ranging talks with President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other Indian leaders.
Kocharian, accompanied by his wife Bella, flew into Agra today to see the Taj Mahal and would reach here tomorrow. He would also visit Chandigarh.
Heading a high-level delegation, the Armenian leader would participate in a joint-business meeting organised by CII and FICCI here on October 31.
Besides, the double taxation avoidance agreement, the two sides would also ink a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in information technology and services and an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders.
The trade turnover between India and Armenia was around US dollar three million in 2002-03 and this is expected to increase by almost 50 per cent in the current year.
Minister of State for External Affairs Digvijay Singh had visited Armenia in July this year. Armenia has consistently supported India's candidature for permanent membership in the UN Security Council. Bureau Report
