Bangalore, Oct 08: Peeved at Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna's "unilateral" decision to undertake ‘padayatra’ on Cauvery issue, BJP state unit today said that it would not hereafter "blindly" attend all party meets called by the government and its decision would be issue-based. Accusing Krishna of having "betrayed" the trust reposed in him by opposition parties, Karnataka BJP unit president Basavaraj Patil Sedam told reporters here that the party would fight on its own on issues concerning the state. Asked if the party would skip all party meetings, he said they would think twice before attending it.
He said Krishna's statement that he need not seek permission of opposition leaders to go to his constituency did not behove of him and the position that he held as chief minister. “BJP was not opposed to the yatra but the Chief Minister instead of “abdicating" his responsibility should govern,” Sedam said. Asked about the Centre not convening the meeting of the Cauvery river authority as requested by Karnataka, he said that it depended on "how serious Krishna is". The CRA had said in its order of September 13 that if Karnataka had any difficulty in releasing the quantum of water specified by it, the state could approach the authority. But, Sedam said, Krishna had written a letter seeking the Cra meet only three days ago.
He said the party legislators would stage a ‘dharna’ here on October 10, to protest the alleged "failures" of the Krishna government on various issues and hold statewide demonstrations in all taluks on October 11. Bureau Report
