Governor orders sweet for disabled children in Chennai
Chennai, Oct 22: A total of 3,677 disabled children from 21 institutions in Chennai city were given sweets and savouries on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Governor, P S Ramamohan Rao, today by officials of the office of the State Commissioner for Disabled.

Each year, only 1200 packets of sweets and savouries are
distributed to the inmates of government special schools for
the disabled, government institute for mentally retarded,
government orphanages and service homes on the eve of
Deepavali, being celebrated in the entire state on October 24,
a Raj Bhavan press release said.
This year, the governor ordered that all inmates of special schools for the mentally retarded and mentally ill should be given sweets on the eve of the festival.
