Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 08: Normal life in the city was affected today by the Opposition Left Democratic Front-sponsored dawn-to-dusk district 'hartal' protesting against alleged use of force by police on agitating students here yesterday. Buses were off the road and shops remained closed in the city and the suburbs.
The pro-Left students also took out a march in the city.
Government had already declared a holiday for educational institutions.
Several students and some policemen were hurt when the students' march against the UDF government's educational policy turned violent yesterday. Bureau Report
