Guwahati, Nov 22: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today assured a delegation of the people of Bihar that the that the state government would provide full protection to them and not allow such incidents to recur. The Chief Minister told 'Brihattar Bihari Sanmilani' that stern action against the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police in Tinsukia had been already taken for failing to control violence.
Gogoi apprised the delegation of the confidence building measures initiated by the government to restore the age-old unity and amity between the Assamese and Biharis.
''I have asked my colleagues to visit the affected areas to remove the fear psychosis and instill confidence among the people'', he said.
The Chief Minister further apprised them of the steps taken by the government to provide compensation to those affected in the violence and this would be done within 15 days.
Gogoi urged the 'Sanmilani' to join hands with the government to restore normalcy in the state.
The members of the organisation reposed full faith in the leadership of Gogoi and urged him to work towards removing the feeling of insecurity among Biharis living in the state.
