with China, India is keeping a close watch on enhanced Chinese
naval activities in Myanmar, which has a direct bearing on
India's security, senior Indian Navy officials said here

"As far as Coco Island and Myanmar is concerned, we
are vigilant and watching the developments going on there,"
the Flag Officer commanding the Eastern Naval Command of the
Indian Navy, Vice Admiral O P Bansal told reporters here on board
INS Ranjit, a guided missile destroyer, now docked in
the east Chinese port city of Shanghai.
Asked whether the Chinese naval activities in Myanmar, especially on great Coco Island was taken up during his interactions with the Chinese navy, Bansal said it was not discussed but the issue has been taken up at "a higher level."
"No. Not this issue because that is at a much higher level. Our immediate aim is to have navy-to-navy contact and strengthening our relationship (with China)," he said.
