Mumbai, Oct 22: Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde today announced various measures for the scarcity-hit regions of the state.
Addressing a weekly cabinet briefing here, Shinde told reporters that the Crop Insurance Scheme would be implemented for the two lakh farmers, Rs 500 will be given per hectre of uncultivated land.
The farmers will be given 50 per cent allowance for the drop irrigation scheme in the drought affected area, allowance for cultivating fodder for animals, sanction of Rs 150 crore for fodder supply in the six worst affected districts of Ahmednagar, Solapur, Satarat, Sangli, Beed and Pune, he added.
Shinde said the farmers will be given exemption in repayment of Rs 162 crore loan to floricultural farmers, Rs 25 crore for various drinking water schemes, emergency irrigation schemes, concession in electricity bill and the school fees for farmer's children.
The Chief Minister informed 1,678 villages in the state were scarcity hit and 1635 tankers were used for supplying water to them at present.
The situation has improved with 33 villages coming out of scarcity and reduction of tankers for water supply, he added.
In the shades for animals, Shinde said around 3 lakh animals were provided shelter by the state.
