Sajik Tampak (Manipur-Myanmar border) Jan 16: The separatist Manipur People's Liberation Front (MPLF) today claimed responsibility for gunning down a BSF commandant and a constable during the January eight fire fight in an interior area here, and also displayed the weapons snatched from them. The MPLF displayed the weapons to reporters seized from slain BSF commandant Vivek Saxena and constable Harinder Singh during the four day encounter.
An MPLF spokesman claimed that none of its activists had been killed during the trading of gunfire with the BSF and said only one had been wounded in the thigh.
Dig BSF (Manipur and Nagaland) P K Misra had said the assistant commandant and the constable had been shot dead after valiantly resisting and injuring several MPLF activists.

The MPLF spokesman claimed that its members used two rocket launchers and 10,000 rounds of ammunition during the firefight.
Hundreds of Manipur insurgents with sophisticated weapons and anti-aircraft guns were believed to be in encamped in this inaccessible area, the sources said.
