Chandigarh, Dec 01: Cold wave intensified in northern parts of the state with mercury dropping at several places and Srinagar recording temperature below freezing point. Mercury plunged to minus 3.5 degrees Celsius at Srinagar, two degrees below normal, while Amritsar was the coldest in the plains recording a low of 2 degrees Celsius, the met department here said.
Chandigarh had a cold night with the temperature dropping to four degrees below normal at 5.4 degrees.
Patiala recorded 4.6 degrees, Ambala 5.5 degrees, Hisar 7.1 and Ludhiana 6.4.
In Himachal Pradesh, Shimla recorded 8.7 degrees, and Bhuntar and Sundernagar in upper reaches one degrees and 1.5 degrees respectively. Bureau Report
