Bangalore, July 12: If you have thought Thailand is just about exotic food, think again. There is more to this beautiful South East Asian country than that. Its diversity was all evident at the ‘Thailand Exhibition 2003’ which got off to a start here today. Organised by the Department of Export Promotion of the Royal Thai Government, the exhibition has on display a host of products- From furniture to bathroom fittings and pet jars to automobile components.
About 91 companies who deal in a variety of products such as food and beverages, household appliances, computers and accessories, textiles and fashion accessories, leather products, gifts and decorative items are taking part in the exhibition. The exhibition provides a good platform for Indian companies to explore business opportunities. But, there is not much for the general public though as most of the products on display are not for sale. But the public can get a glimpse of the making of Thai Food. Cooks flown in from Thailand demonstrate cooking of authentic Thai dishes. The expo was inaugurated by Large and Medium Industries Minister R V Deshpande and Mr Chirasak Thanesnant, Ambassador of Thailand to India. The exhibition will be open between 10 am and 4 pm for traders and between 4 pm and 7 pm for the public until July 13.
