Salem, July 30: Water has been released from the Stanley reservoir at Mettur, for drinking water purposes for people of Erode, Karur, Namakkal and Tiruchirapalli, since last night, according to the officials.
The water would be released for five days, the officials said. Meanwhile, the water level at Mettur dam stood this morning at 28.37 feet against its full level of 120 feet.
The capacity was 6.892 TMC against its full capacity of 93.4 TMC. Inflow into the reservoir was to the tune of 1777 cusecs, while the outflow was 903 cusecs, officials said.
