Srinagar, Jan 22: Two persons, including a Hizbul Mujahideen militant and an Army jawan, were killed in a fierce encounter in Bandipora area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir last night, official sources said today. The encounter, which lasted for several hours, started when the troops raided a hideout at Panar forest following information about the presence of militants, the sources said. A Hizbul Mujahideen militant identified as Pervaiz Ahmad Reshi and an army jawan were killed in the gunbattle, they said adding, some arms and ammunition including an AK assault rifle were recovered from the deceased militant.
