New Delhi, Nov 14: Hewlett-Packard has announced launch of Compaq Presario notebooks at below Rs 50,000 for the small and medium businesses, home users, education and sales people. Priced at Rs 49,990, the notebook computer is aimed at tapping the earlier untapped segments, a company release said here.
"We expect massive take-off in the Soho, SMB and education segment as also in the corporate space for sales and service personnel, Ravi Swaminathan, vp, personal systems group, HP India, said.
"The trigger for HP is to grow market and tap the huge potential that it holds. The notebook market is expected to grow by 50-60 per cent and our aim is to have a dominating presence in that", he said.
The ratio of desktops to notebooks in India is 1:30 while in Thailand it is 1:6. "We aim to change the equation in India with this sub-Rs 50,000 notebook launch," he said.
