Lucknow, June 09: In the second campaign within a year to give an impetus to the construction of Ram Temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today began a ritual at Kar Sevakpuram to enlist the support of over 5 crore people for the move. At least 200 saffron bags, enclosed with 'Ram rakhsa sutra' (sanctified thread), a map of the proposed temple and soil from the disputed site, are being consecrated at a 'yajna' being held at Kar Sevakpuram in Ayodhya, Purshottam Narain Singh, in-charge of VHP in Uttar Pradesh said.

He said these sacred bags would be carried to the length and breadth of the country and distributed among Hindus asking them to take a pledge not to rest until a Ram Temple was constructed at the disputed site.

“We expect to prepare over 5 crore people, through this campaign for construction of Ram Temple at the disputed site," he added. The organising secretaries touring the country will tie ‘Ram raksha sutra’ on the forearms of Hindus, Singh said.

Senior VHP leaders including its international president Ashok Singhal, general secretary Praveen Togadia, and Giriraj Kishore and Onkar Bhave are taking part in the yajna, he said.

These consecrated threads would be distributed among 200 VHP organising secretaries tomorrow on the occasion of Bhimsaini Ekadashi. He said that in rural areas the campaign will be carried out between July 15 and September 15, while in urban areas the campaign will start on September 15 and continue till October 2. Bureau Report
