A mysterious explosion went off on Tuesday in a Gaza city building that also houses a mosque, and at least 15 people were wounded, including three who were in serious condition, Palestinian security officials said. Explosives experts were searching the building and police tried to keep away hundreds of bystanders crowding the scene of the blast.

One of the area residents, Amin al-Shahin, said the explosion went off at about 0915 GMT and shook his building. I was in the kitchen and I was covered by glass coming from the window, Al-Shahin said. I ran down to the first floor and I saw smoke and dust coming from the building.
