New Delhi, Nov 28: Aluminium production rose 25.33 per cent to 4,79,897 tonne during April-October 2003 as against 3,82,917 tonne during the same period last year. The production target stood at 4,79,459 tonne during the review period, an official release said.
The state-owned National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) produced 1,73,866 tonne against a target of 1,65,150 tonne and Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd (Balco), in which the government holds 49 per cent equity, produced 56,678 tonne against the target of 58,100 tonne.
Private sector Hindustan Aluminium Company (Hindalco) contributed 1,92,771 tonne, Indian Aluminium Company (Indal) 37,997 tonne and Madras Aluminium Company Limited (Malco) 18,585 tonne.
However, aluminium output increased 12.14 per cent during October 2003 at 78,907 tonne against a target of 70,367 tonne.
Nalco exported 37,539 tonne alumina and 9,747 tonne of aluminium during the review month.
The installed annual capacity of aluminium production in the country stands at 8,40,000 tonne.
