New Delhi, Sept 06: Indian Air Force today dismissed
reports that its SU-30 fighter squadrons had been grounded due
to some technical snags in the engine blades.
An IAF spokesman here said though some of the aircraft
acquired from Russia faced warranty snags, the squadron was
continuing with staggered flying.
He said the rectification of the snags had been taken up
with the Russians who had agreed to despatch a team of
specialists to look into them.
Moreover, the spokesman said the SU-30 were now almost on
the verge of being sent to Russia for upgradation to MKI
adding that both the SU-30 Squadrons would be sent to Moscow
starting February 2004.
