Jammu, Oct 24: As many as 243 traders had been booked for violating various provisions of Essential Commodities Act in different parts of Jammu division during last one month, an official spokesman said here today. Rs 40,260 were exacted as fines from the violators during inspections of 520 business establishments of general store merchants, sweet and meat sellers and dhaba owners, he said.

The special drive has been launched by the departments to control the prices of essential commodities and check adulteration. The consumers have been asked to forward their complaints to the department.
