Jaipur, Oct 01: Railway Minister Nitish Kumar today said the new zones being set up in the country were as per the laws and the reforms to improve the financial condition of the Railways and to ensure "zero accident" rates in future. Restructuring of zones was a practical and planned step following the recommendations of the Reforms Committee in 1996 to give fillip to efficiency and capability of the railways, security to passengers and earn profit, Kumar said while inaugurating the North-West Railway zone here. With the new railway zone coming into force today, the controversies regardiing the bifurcation of Railways zone have ended, he said and added that the railways would set up six more zones by April 1, 2003. The new zone comprising Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Jaipur divisions has 3,261 km broad guage and 3008 km metre guage lines. Bureau Report
