Imphal, Dec 06: United Committee of Manipur (UCM), an apex body, today appealed to Kukis and Karbis in Karbi Anglong district of Assam to resolve their differences through peaceful negotiations. UCM information secretary Joy Chingakham also urged the assam government to end the ethnic conflict and restore normalcy in Karbi Anglong district.

Official sources here said about 300 Kukis from Karbi Anglong had crossed over to Manipur because of ethnic conflict there and were being given shelter in Churachandpur district.
Chingakham said that the UCM would always work for peace, unity and integrity among the people in the north-eastern states and added that different communities and tribes should have mutual trust among themselves.
