Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam on Friday said that the terrorist attack on Parliament on Thursday has underscored the necessity for a stern law against terrorism on the lines of the Prevention Of Terrorism Ordinance (POTO).
In a brief chat with newspersons at the secretariat in New Delhi, he appealed to leaders of all parties in the country to remain united and support the controversial POTO. ''Regardless of their differences, it is time leaders of all parties stood united and supported POTO'', he said.
“AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa had extended support to POTO realising its necessity,” he said.
Rejecting a suggestion that Thursday’s incident had exposed the security failure on the part of the Centre, he said such conclusions could not be drawn based on a single incident.
