Lahore, Apr 05: L Balaji helped India made a breakthrough in the first innings of Pakistan in the second Test here today. The first man to go for Pakistan was Taufeeq Umar bowled by Balaji for 24 runs. After the dismal performance with the bat in the first innings Indians bowled steadily. At the end of first day’s play Pakistan Imran Farhat and Yaseer Hammed were on crease.
Electing to bat first, India are all out after making 287 runs in the first innings of the second Test match here today. The centurion Yuvraj Singh was the last man out for 112 runs. He made his first hundred of Test carrier.
Yuvraj Singh saved the day for India India were 234 for seven in their first innings at tea on the opening day of the second cricket Test against Pakistan here today.
India had bad start to the day when first-change bowler Umar Gul inflicted three crippling blows on India when he dismissed VVS Laxman after taking the prized wickets of Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar in successive overs.
At the lunch break, the India were in a spot on 107 for the loss of four wickets. Skipper Rahul Dravid was 27 not out, while Yuvraj Singh was six not out. Mohammad Sami made the first breakthrough, trapping Aakash Chopra (4) plumb in front of the stumps.
Gul sent back Virender Sehwag, who was in a perfect form after his triple-century in Multan. The opener edged through to the keeper for a soft dismissal. Sehwag slammed six boundaries and a six in his innings of 39.
In his next over, Gul trapped Tendulkar (2) leg before with a delivery which angled in sharply from a good length. Laxman (11) was decieved by some extra bounce, edging it through while pushing at it away from his body.
Earlier, India`s stand-in captain Rahul Dravid elected to bat on a greenish track in the second Test against Pakistan in Lahore’s Gadaffi stadium today.
India are playing their first Test series in Pakistan in over 14 years with the third match taking place in Rawalpindi from April 13.
