Chennai, Mar 02: Deputy Prime Minister and senior BJP leader L K Advani's campaign schedule in Tamil Nadu for the coming Lok Sabha polls has been finalised and it would be announced in a couple of days by the party high command at New Delhi.
BJP national secretary L Ganesan, who returned from New Delhi
today after finalising Mr Advani's campaign schedule, told
newspersons at the airport here today that the party state unit had
also urged the high command to arrange for Prime Minister A B
Vajpayee's campaign in Tamil Nadu.
To a question, he said the party had finalised the seat-sharing process with its poll ally the ruling AIADMK. ''Though we did not get what we wanted, the party workers have already commenced their field work with an aim to win the elections.''
Asked to comment on DMK president M Karunanidhi's reported remarks that Mr Vajpayee had lost his credibility among people, Mr Ganesan said ''when the entire world is praising Mr Vajpayee's performance, he does not need any certificate from a person in Tamil Nadu.''
On the delay in releasing the party's candidate list in the state, he said there was enough time and the party would announce it at an appropriate time.
Mr Ganesan said the party's Central Election Committee would meet between March 10 and 15 at New Delhi during which the candidates for Tamil Nadu would be finalised.
When his attention was drawn to the continuous criticisms made by AIADMK workers in Pudukottai district against BJP leader and former Union minister S Thirunavukkarasar, he said there was no need for Mr Thirunavukkarasar to reply to such criticisms made by workers belonging to the lower rung of the party. Senior AIADMK leaders paid him due respect, he added. Bureau Report
