Allahabad, Oct 15: The Allahabad High Court has ruled
that the date of birth of an employee cannot be corrected at a
belated stage once it is entered in the service book on
voluntary disclosure by the concerned employee.
Justice R M Mishra passed the order yesterday on a writ
petition filed by a retired state government employee
Surendra Kumar Tiwari, a resident of Azamgarh district.
The petitioner had moved the court challenging an order of the Additional District Magistrate, Azamgarh, rejecting his representation for correction of his date of birth in his service book.
Dismissing the petition, the court said the date of birth of an employee, once entered in the service book, cannot be corrected at a belated stage as the same has been in the service book for a long time after the employee himself has made a statement disclosing his date of birth, which shall be taken as correct.
