Lucknow, July 18: Absconding Uttar Pradesh legislator from Rae Bareilly Akhilesh Singh today offered to surrender before a special court if he was given adequate police protection and alleged he faced threats to his life.
Singh, who carries a reward of Rs 2,500 on his head, submitted an application in this regard to special session judge (Gangster's Act) R.K. Kaushik through his advocate Nagendra Pratap Singh.
In his application, Singh alleged threat to his life and said he was ready to surrender before the court provided security was provided to him. The absconding legislator alleged a conspiracy had been hatched to eliminate him because he had refused to join the Mayawati cabinet. He dubbed the cases lodged against him as "fake and politically motivated."
"My family members were being harassed while attaching my property," Singh said in his application. Bureau Report
