Lucknow, Oct 17: The stage is set for Vishwa Hindu Parishad's "Ram Bhakta Sammelan" in Ayodhya today. A tight security blanket has been thrown over the temple town even as thousands of karsewaks from Faizabad arrived here to participate in the meeting. The saffron outfit has also rejected the compromise formula offered by UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. Mulayam, in a last minute bid to avoid a showdown, had yesterday offered that the VHP could hold its 'sankalp sabha' at any place five km away from the disputed site in Ayodhya. However, this offer was rejected by the outfit, which said that the offer was of no use and was irrelevant since Ayodhya's limit extended only to two km from the site. Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh administration yesterday arrested 25,000 people, including BJP MP Yogi Adityanath and Dharam Sansad member Swami Ram Kamal Vedanti, to stop them from proceeding towards Ayodhya to take part in VHP's mass rally. The VHP has also announced a four-hour chakka-jam to protest against the disappearance of 22 of its workers in Varanasi. Bureau Report
